The 2019 Inventors’ Hall of Fame, International Competition of Ideas, Inventions & Innovations 

The 2019 Inventors’ Hall of Fame, International Competition of Ideas, Inventions & Innovations (i-fame2019) provide opportunities and platform for inventors to showcase, exchanging ideas and to establish relations with global partners for future collaboration. i-FAME2019 comprises of inventions, innovation and design competition. The competition is being initiated due to recent developments in economy, socio-economic, new development of IT, scientific discoveries, new financial products and many other innovations that have resulted in new ways of doing business, way of life and utilizing technology to work and play. 

 

Innovations have potentially revitalized regions and innovative solutions that help build resilience within the communities while addressing specific needs to generate sustainable economic and social activities and it continue to empower both young and old to make the most of the new opportunities offered by these changes

 

More involvement and engagement is necessary to embrace changes, develop new skills and capabilities to shape the new era economy.  While advancement in technology has affected communities in different ways, more innovation is needed to ensure sustainability, resilience within and addresses specific community needs.  Furthermore, certain fraction of the community is still struggling to adapt to recent development and changes especially where employment is concerned. 

 

Thus, with the theme 'Building Sustainable Community Through Innovation', i-FAME2019 welcomes local and international researchers, students, academicians and industry player for innovative ideas in the following areas, but not limited to:

  • Teaching based innovation

  • Design based innovation

  • Local and environmental innovation

HOW TO

Participate

  • Submit a complete extended abstract. Extended abstracts should be 1½ pages the least but not exceeding 2 pages.

Prizes

  • Winners will be given a medal and a certificate. Additional cost will be charged for extra medal; each medal, Gold (RM80), Silver (RM70), Bronze (RM60). RM15 will be charged for additional print out certificates of participation/achievement per piece.

 

Terms of Participation

  • Number of participant : Max 6 (including group leader)

  • The competition is open to all interested participants either from local (Malaysian) and international participants

  • All entrants must select a category to compete in accordance with their eligibility.

  • Participants are given five minutes for presentation and five minutes for Question & Answer session.

  • The panel of judges has the power and the right to reject incomplete participation or violate the eligibility requirements for the exhibition category.

  • The contested ideas should be the result of the original ideas of the participants.

 

Code of Ethics

The following participation is, however, not accepted for this competition:

  • Any duplication of others or plagiarism

  • Using the work of other participants

  • Falsifying data or notes

  • Piracy

  • Provocation of public’s sensitivity or may contain values that are in contrary to morale and public health and welfare

 

Registration Form

  • Participants must complete a separate registration form for each exhibition they wish to participate.

  • An abstract copy of the project will be given to the panel before the judging session.

  • Participants should make their own copy of research papers, project journals, and other items to be displayed at each booth.

  • Abstracts must be written in English.

  • The organizing committee is entitled to accept and reject the participation of the contestants without clarification.

 

Poster Guidelines

  • The abstract in poster must be written in one paragraph only (300 words)

  • The abstract must be written in English only

  • Recommendation for poster design: background, problem statement, objective, novelty, benefits to society and commercialization potential

Exhibition Booth

  • The poster should be prepared in bunting size 2 x 5 feet

  • Material of the poster should be synthetic

  • Table (1 unit: 2ft x 3ft), chair (1 unit) & electricity sources (1 unit) will be provided by the organizer

  • No display board is provided by the organizer

  • Bunting stand/streamer (not provided but leasable)

  • Participants are encouraged to bring their own broadband for accessing data or any information

 

Terms of Provision of Posters and Completeness

  • All details or files submitted in registration form including abstract are accepted as they are.

  • The organizing committee will not be responsible for any errors in the translation or wording of descriptions published in the program book.

  • Participants must lead and provide material needs to showcase and demonstrate their own invention.

  • All labels and abstract of research papers should be exhibited clearly at each exhibition booth.

  • Preparation booth is under the responsibility of the participants themselves.

  • Individual socket facilities are not provided. Participants are advised to bring your own connection sockets for presentation.

  • Participants can bring their own laptop for additional visual presentation (if necessary).

  • Participants need to be cautious about the safety of each item during the exhibition.

  • Participants (leaders or members) are required to be on their respective booth during the exhibition session to serve the attendees.

 

Certificates/Awards/Prizes

  • Participants will be scored according to the predetermined criteria.

  • The maximum score is 100%.

  • Certificate of participation and the (gold/silver/bronze) certificate indicating the name of the leader, supervisor, and members of the group will be provided. However, any additional certificates will be charged.

  • Bookings of additional certificates can be made at the secretariat counter on the day of competition through cash payment only. Additional participation/achievement certificate will be mailed to the participants at a later date.

 

Participation Fees and Payments

  • Once the registration form has been accepted and the registration is confirmed by the organizing committee, the participant is obliged to pay the total amount of fees within the allocated timeframe. Please refer to i-fame 2019 website for further details on payment method.

  • All participants must pay the required fees as per category registered. Fees paid are not refundable.

  • Any change of name and number of participants shall be notified no later than ONE MONTH before the date of the competition.

  • Changes of title and project category are not allowed after closing date.

Publication Decisions

The Editorial Board of the book is responsible for deciding which of the submitted project/work should be published and they may be constrained by such legal requirements as shall then be in force regarding libel, copyright infringement, and plagiarism. The decision to accept or reject a project/work for publication is based on its importance, originality, clarity, and its relevance to the scope of the competition.

 

Others

  • The organizing committee will also not to be responsible for any loss, theft, damage (due to fire or other causes) or personal injury suffered during or after the exhibition or in transit.

  • Participants should further agree to release and acquit the organizing committee for all actions, causes of actions, claims or damages of whatever kind, including the negligence of the organizer arising out of participation in this program.

  • The decisions of the panel of judges for the competition are final. The panel of judges or the organizing committee is not liable in respect of any matters which arise from or connected to the results or conducted in organizing the competition.
